In the very hot weather of July, this GPBL was attended by the participation of staffs and excellent students from Thailand, the Faculty of Architecture of Chiang Mai University, the Faculty of Architectural and Environmental Design of Mae Jo University, and the Faculty of Architecture of Kasetsert University, as well as the very active students of SIT. We were able to achieve great success. Once again, I would like to thank all the participants.
First of all, we saw how to maintain and preserve ancient architecture, traditional architecture, and characteristic townscapes at the Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum in Kawasaki, the ancient capital of Kawagoe, and the Edo Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum and sometimes deepened our understanding by sketching and measuring.
Based on those experiences, we visited Kagurazaka and thought about how to pass on the traditional and attractive townscape to the next generation. In the very hot weather, the students walked around the town, grasped its characteristics, and finally compiled a plan.
