We will hold 5th GPBL Workshop with Chiang Mai University and Mae Jo University in Chiang Mai, Thailand, 18th - 27th, March 2025.
The floods that occurred in September and October this year caused devastating damage in various parts of Chiang Mai, the worst in 100 years.
The same was true for an eco-museum that was opened in a rural village about 40 kilometers south of Chiang Mai, where an old house was renovated in cooperation with the local residents. The water was flooded almost to the floor level, causing major damage to the building.
In this workshop, in addition to repairing the old house, revitalizing the exhibits, and revitalizing the exterior, we will also restore and repair the damaged houses in the village, while staying in the village.
The old town of the ancient capital of Chiang Mai was also severely damaged by the floods, and the area in which traditional craft artisans of the Khun people live, particularly those who make silverwork and lacquerware, and the architectural heritage sites in the Ping River basin are also in the process of being restored. In this workshop, we will enter these areas and plan the refurbishment of workshops and the revitalization of shops.
